For Tweens and Teens

Moniteau County Library has a variety of materials, resources and programs for our teen & tween patrons.

Programming for Teens and Tweens: Summer 2017

Due to the dissolution of the Library District by Court order and being unable to accept a grant for summer programming, we are sad to announce there will be NO summer reading program in 2017.  However, we encourage parents and caregivers to bring their children to the library to checkout books, use computers, and enjoy the Early Literacy Center all summer long.

Subscription Resources are only available on library computers.

Collections:

Print Collection: The library has a wide variety of fiction books appropriate for middle and high school youth. These include classic authors, popular titles and a variety of genres. The non-fiction titles support homework assignments and general interests. We also have the 2016-2017  TRUMAN and GATEWAY Award Nominated books available in the Young Adult section of the library. Missouri School Librarians have nominated these books for students to read and vote for their favorite in March 2017.

Media Collection: Titles of interest to youth in CD and DVD formats are housed in the general media collection.

WOOD PLACE LIBRARY REOPENS MAY 22
M-W-F 10 A.M.-2 P.M.
T-TH 3 P.M.-7 P.M.
CLOSED SATURDAY-SUNDAY

The Wood Place Library is operated by The Elia Wood Foundation.  The board recently voted to provide FREE library cards to anyone residing in Moniteau County that wishes to use the library.  We encourage those who have never used the library to apply for a library card and begin exploring the collections for check-out, 14 public computers, free WiFi, e-Books, Copy/Faxing services,  and programs.  The Foundation is reaching out to residents to assist them in making an informed decision when considering a future levy campaign.

In the meantime, the Foundation will be fundraising to assist with operating costs until pubic support is voted into existence and tax funds are received.  The projected goal is to be open part-time in 2017, and full time beginning January 2, 2018.

Once a levy has been passed, the library will be eligible for MO State Library programs and grants.  These grants provide funding for the Summer Reading Program, Interlibrary Loan Courier Service, the Rural Electronic Assess for Libraries (REAL) program, and other beneficial programs.

We are excited about the future of the library and appreciate your support and understanding during this most difficult time for the library.
