For Adults

Wood Place Library has a variety of materials, resources and programs for our adult patrons.

Winter Read Program a Big Hit!

For the past 6 years, our adult patrons have participated in a reading reward program during the months of January and February that culminates in a drawing for a variety of prizes.  For each book, ebook, or audio cd from this library that they read or listened to during that 2 month period, they filled out a chance to win. Our winners know that "Reading is 'Snow' much Fun"  Remember, ALL readers are winners!

Collections:

Print Collection: Our collection of adult fiction features best sellers and popular authors. There is a wide range of Reference and Non-Fiction titles for research or special interests. We also have a large print collection for those who find that format easier to read.

  • Latham Family Award Winning Book Collection: This collection is funded by the Latham family in memory of Dr. and Mrs. Kenyon Latham. It includes books from the following awards: Aventis, Caldecott, Edgars, National, Newberry, Nobel & Pulitzer. There are books for young children and youth, as well as many books for adults - quality fiction, poetry, biography, science, history and more!

THANKS for YOUR SUPPORT, VOTERS!

We are thrilled to announce that the November 7th ballot measure has passed by near 70%! In 2018, the new Moniteau County Library will be operating on private donations and support from the Elia Wood Paegelow Foundation, since tax receipts will not be received until December 2018.

However, there are some expanded services that will be provided, such as Reciprocal Borrowing Agreements with surrounding area library systems, and a Summer Reading Program taken to rural schools in the county, if we are awarded a Summer Reading Program Grant from the Missouri State Library.  The courier service will be reinstated for interlibrary loan requests beginning December 1.

We look forward to implementing the expanded services that have been featured in the campaign in 2019 after the receipt of tax funds.

We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those on the campaign committee who worked tirelessly on this ballot issue. If you voted Yes and Yes to establish a library district and secure public funding for library services, we thank you for your support. If you voted No, we invite you to visit the library to discover it's value to you and all Moniteau County residents.

HELP!  USED INK CARTRIDGES NEEDED

Here's a great way to help the library with supply costs. We are out of ink cartridges to recycle at Staples for store credit.  All brands and sizes may be turned in at the library so that each month we may recycle up to 20 cartridges for $40.00 credit.  The community has been helpful in the past so that we can use this fantastic program to help stretch the library budget.  We're counting on your help again.  Thanks!
