Our Director is Connie Walker. She began her duties in January 2010 after moving to California. Connie grew up in Versailles, MO and was employed for 23 years by the Morgan County Library System. She worked her way up from Library Clerk to Library Director during her tenure in Versailles. After moving to Lincoln, NE in 2005, opportunities brought her back to central Missouri in 2008. Connie was anxious to get back in a library setting. When she's not working she enjoys reading, gardening, bird watching, decorating, family and her Westie, Winston. She loves the small town setting and enjoys living and working in California. Currently, she serves on the CPI board and is chair of the California Old Town Design Committee.
Our Assistant Director, Nancy Lewis, began her position as Interim Director in October, 2009 and became the Assistant Librarian when Connie became the Director. She has been involved with Wood Place Library since before it opened its doors on Oak Street. She served two terms on the Board of Directors, and was president of the Board two years. Nancy retired from California R-1 School District as CMS Library Media Specialist in June, 2008. Nancy enjoys working 3 days/week in the library and her varied duties as children's librarian, bookkeeper, web page administrator and managing patron and catalog records.
Erin Ogg is our new full-time Library Clerk. Originally from Pennsylvania, she has lived in California for the past couple of years. She has two daughters and formerly served in the Missouri National Guard. We welcome her to the library.
We appreciate the volunteers who help staff the library. Their assistance is invaluable and they tell us it’s a rewarding task. We could always use a few more volunteers to help with staffing as well as special events, so give Connie a call if you are interested in helping. Click here to download our Volunteer form.
